Current/OS is a nonprofit organization defining standards for DC microgrids, to ensure reliable and sustainable power distribution in buildings and installations.

As a collaborative partnership, we welcome all stakeholders committed to tackling the energy transition challenge in the building industry. We are especially looking to collaborate with load manufacturers, design consultants, integrators, architects, real estate investors, and insurance companies.

Current/OS standardization efforts are conducted in coordination with the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), as reflected in our Liaison A status with the Systems Committee for Low Voltage Direct Current (SyC LVDC).

Today, Current/OS gathers 75 partners across 25 countries in North America, Europe, and Asia. including industry leaders such as ABB, Eaton, Mersen, Nexans, Schneider Electric, Tridonic, UL Solutions, Siemens, and Kone—just to name a few—alongside niche experts, innovative startups, university research centers and trade groups.

Together, Current/OS partners develop pioneer, real-world DC installations to showcase the benefits of DC with Current/OS set of rules. Examples of applications include office buildings, EV charging stations in parking facilities, university campuses, data centers, or street lighting.
